Manuel: Manuel, graduating from Woodside High School, has not only been focused on academic achievement, but has also been very active in many other aspects of his school and community. At school, he served as the Vice-President of the MESA/AVID club, an academic enrichment program that prepares first-generation college students, and he has become a conflict mediator helping others find ways to resolve conflicts. Manuel was also nominated by his peers & teachers as part of the Homecoming court. In his community, Manuel has been involved with Project READ’s Kids in Partnership, tutoring young ESL students, and he also has been a long-standing volunteer tutor in Mary Jane’s tutoring program, where he originally learned how to speak English himself. Manuel enjoys participating in Mt. Carmel’s Youth group where he is able to help other families in need. He will attend the University of California at Davis majoring in Communications. |
