luisLuis: Graduating from Menlo-Atherton High School, Luis’ influence on others has extended beyond the boundaries of the classroom. Luis has been an extremely active member of College Track, an organization for students who have the desire to attend college. Here Luis contributed actively to his community with over 250 hours of service within an eighteen month period. Serving as a representative of the student body on the College Track Student Senate, he played an integral role in motivating his fellow senators to be a stronger presence in the program. He also participated in Project Reach, tutoring kindergarten students, and in YUCA, where he organized events to prevent gentrification and participated in development campaigns. Both programs provided specific benefits to the community of East Palo Alto. Inside the classroom, Luis was a Teacher’s assistant for the Student Racing Partners program helping students build scale-model cars. With his interest in Political Science, Luis looks forward to attending the University of California at Santa Cruz.
