Jessica: Jessica has excelled in her advanced placement courses at Woodside High School and has received multiple academic awards. She has also been very involved in extra-curricular activities at school and in her community. Jessica has been a member of the cross-country and track teams on campus. She was the President of the Young Latino Leaders Club and the MESA/AVID club, an academic enrichment program that prepares first-generation college students. She has served in a peer counseling group called “Students Offering Support”, has tutored younger students in Project READ’s Kids in Partnership program, and has been a Sunday School teacher at her church, for children between the ages of three and five years. Jessica is passionate about starting a career in pediatrics. Her interest in the medical profession led her to take community college courses in Biology and Chemistry to gain a stronger foundation in the subject, and she has also been a volunteer at Kaiser Hospital for two summers. Jessica will attend Mills College in the fall. |
