 Do not be fooled by Jakari’s reserved demeanor, for beneath this cloak lies a strength, a steady determination and a competitive spirit. After speaking with Jakari, his teachers, and advisors at East Side College Prep, you discover a young man who is a track star, a playwright, an experienced debater, and a dedicated member of his school’s National Society of Black Engineers. Jakari was also awarded a distinctive scholarship that allowed him a trip to China for a summer where he lived with a family in a rural village. He is described as a “student of great character.” In the fall, Jakari will be attending St. Olaf College, a private, Liberal Arts College in Minnesota. |
