“I am thankful to know that I am receiving help and support from so many people that care for me and that is what makes my college experience a lot better. ” -Claritza, 2006 Scholar
Francisco was the top student in his class at East Palo Alto Academy. He was especially strong in math and science and participated in SMASH, (a Science and Math Honors Academy at UC Berkeley) for the last three summers. He is also quite active in his community. Francisco told us in his interview that he wanted to help people around the world and that he’d be best doing that as a doctor. He’d like to heal people’s pain and give people the opportunity
to have better lives by being involved in their communities. One of Francisco’s teachers wrote, “Francisco embodies all that we hope for in our young.” He will be attending UC Berkeley in the fall.
