cesarCesar: Although Eastside College Preparatory School typically does not take transfers, Cesar applied two weeks before his junior year, as he was determined to graduate from this high school. For his junior and senior year, Cesar became the first student in Eastside’s history to take one more academic core class than the rest of his classmates in order to complete his graduation requirements, including enrolling in all six Advanced Placementclasses offered. Cesar’s initiative and drive is also evident in his involvement in extra-curricular activities. He was a member of the varsity basketball and volleyball teams, participated in student council, helping to organize school events such as spirit week, movie night, and other community events and he also participated in Step-by-Step, addressing social and environmental issues in his community. Each summer Cesar was a member of SMASH, a math and science honors academy, held at the University of California (UC) Berkeley where he received the SEPUP award during his second summer. Cesar is looking forward to returning to UC Berkeley this fall.
