“I am thankful to know that I am receiving help and support from so many people that care for me and that is what makes my college experience a lot better. ” -Claritza, 2006 Scholar

SeforaSefora: Despite many obstacles, Sefora has managed to maintain a GPA of 3.6 while taking two International Baccalaureate classes, working after school and playing on the local club soccer team.  One of her teachers commented that Sefora is, “only one of a few exceptional students who truly embrace their learning and express a deep passion to transcend their limits.”  Her soccer coach commented that Sefora was one a few girls that has really impressed her over the years because of her outstanding character, hard work and leadership.  Sefora wants to become a nurse and thus took the initiative to apply for and be accepted to the Kaiser Permanente LAUNCH Summer Internship Program.  She did not do it for the money but instead for the experience.  It was this experience that solidified her dream of being a nurse and hopefully work with children.  Sefora is “a true individual who is passionate about every area of her life – education, family, and career.”  Next year, at San Jose State she will continue her education and quest to become a nurse.
