Ruby has overcome many obstacles to get to where she is today and as her mentor says, “I believe in her ability and commitment to overcome, succeed and give back.”  Ruby has proven each of these traits during her high school career.  She has been an active member at BUILD where she has become known as a confident and motivated student and entrepreneur.  She also voluntarily signed up for the AVID and MESA programs so that she could get the extra help she needed to succeed in high school and go onto college.  At BUILD she led her business team that ended up earning the most money of any team.  Ruby’s desire to earn a college diploma is obvious to all of those who know her and as she says, “I am ready to pursue my dream and get an education following a job that helps people in need.”  Her next four years at Notre Dame de Namur will lead to just that.
