“This program will help motivate more underrepresented minority students to attend college. With the mentoring, summer internships and financial support, students will realize they have a lot of support to help them be successful in college and beyond.”

OVERVIEW

Target Schools: Scholarships are given to students at Woodside High School, Menlo-Atherton High School, East Palo Alto Academy High School, Eastside College Prep, Summit Prep High School and Sequoia High School.

Goals: Our long-term goal is to have 150 students in the program at any one time. Keeping the program small ensures a close relationship with the students throughout their college career.

Inspiration: THE PENINSULA COLLEGE FUND is based on three very successful programs: The South Central Gifted Scholar Fund of Los Angeles, the Meritus College Fund of San Francisco and the East Bay College Fund. In similar fashion, we believe that there is an identified critical need among mid-peninsula students for college funding, which this program addresses.
